Job Description
About the role
We are seeking a detailed oriented Assistant Accountant to support day-to-day financial operations, month-end close, and statutory compliance. This role helps maintain smooth financial operations and provides essential support to finance functions.
The day-to-day responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
Oversee and support accounts payable - invoice matching, coding, approvals, payment runs
Prepare journals, accruals, and prepayments
Oversee and support bank and credit card reconciliations
Maintain fixed asset registers
Support payroll processing
Respond to finance queries from internal teams and external stakeholders
Prepare balance sheet reconciliations
Assist with preparing monthly management accounts and financial reports
Support variance analysis, budgeting and forecasting
Assist with BAS/GST preparation and support
Support PAYG and superannuation compliance
Assist with audit and year end processes
Desired Skills and Experience
Key Selection Criteria
Relevant tertiary qualification such as Certificate IV in Accounting or Bookkeeping, or a Degree in Accounting.
Previous experience in a similar accounting role.
Working knowledge of MYOB, Xero, Employment Hero, Intermediate Excel skills, and other Microsoft Office applications is preferred.
Knowledge of MYP an advantage.
Experience in Payroll processing with particular experience in legislation, compliance and reconciliations.
Strong communication skills both verbal and written with strong level of attention to detail.
Proven ability to work either as part of a team or independently.
Exceptional organisational ability to manage multiple tasks and conflicting deadlines.
Demonstrated high level of discretion and sensitivity when dealing with confidential matters.
A valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) and a Criminal Record Check (CRC) issued within the last 12 months that includes working with vulnerable groups
A valid NDIS Worker Check (NDISWC) to be obtained and maintained at your own expense
Eligibility to work in Australia on a permanent basis.
